Hello friends! Welcome to the first official blog post on She’s Gussied Up. I am so excited you are here, and if you’re reading this blog post – I’m grateful.
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Sydney, I live in St. Louis, Missouri. I am in my mid-twenties and am a dog mom to a pitbull mixed breed, a chihuahua and another pitbull (in doggy heaven). During the day I work for a major global healthcare company in Human Resources, specifically Talent Acquisition. I started my career doing direct recruiting work and recently transitioned to supporting projects and initiatives that make the recruiting function better. I love my day job because it allows me to connect with people – just like I aim to do with this blog.
The name of my blog, She’s Gussied Up, comes from the southern saying my Grandmother would often mention when I’d visit her and my grandfather “all gussied up.” Her southern charm is infectious and I couldn’t think of a better name.
To be honest, I had put off creating this blog a lot longer than I intended to. I put a lot of focus into building my Instagram, mainly due to fear of being inadequate. I don’t have the biggest home, drive the fanciest car or buy the nicest clothes. Most of the time, what we see on the internet and social media is a small glimpse into the best part of someone’s life. But the reality is, we are all just trying to get by!
When the little voice of doubt starts to creep up, I remind myself of my original inspiration to get started: helping other women. Often I am asked by my colleagues, friends and family about where I shop and how I find affordable fashion. Nothing makes my heart fuller than sharing a great deal with another girlfriend. I truly believe that when you look your best, you feel your best. When you feel your best, great things happen.
So without further ado, Welcome to She’s Gussied Up.
Welcome to blogging! There’s definitely a lot of people, (myself included) that are always on the hunt for DEALS. Specifially, affordable deals. I love where you’re going with this so far. Keep it coming!
